Q1 Why do you have the search results sites listed randomly instead of the most popular always being shown near the top?

ANSWER: Most sites never get a chance to be listed near the top of a category but by listing them randomly all sites now get a chance to at least be found. Also, as you will notice, each sub heading search that you click on directly has a list of the most popular sites in the search engine while still giving you an opportunity to do a direct search.

Q2 Why aren't there any chat rooms that are available in your search engine.

ANSWER: We decided that since this is a child and family friendly search engine, and considering the real concern that most parents have (or should have) about spurious chat rooms and the major problems that can occur, we thought it best not to have them.

ANSWER: The original purpose is listed above under "Why The Need For Alwayssafesearch.com" and it was not to be constructed for the purpose of huge financial gain. Therefore, we had decided, at least for as long as we could not to accept paid advertisements. This site was originally constructed primarily NOT for financial gain as the costs were all being borne personally. We have now decided to accept ads to attempt to at least have the site costs covered.

Q4 Why don't you have a blog or at least a guestbook for comments?

ANSWER: Blogs have a way of getting out of control and there is a definite fear of inappropriate comments being made. A guest book would also require constant supervision and we are doing our best to restrict any possible inappropriate wordings. We definitely do welcome your comments and we may, in time, add a page of comments that have been received.

ANSWER: The short answer is - no. Due to the incredible amount of spam and junk email we receive anything sent in "bulk" is automatically deleted and we never see it. If you wish us to receive bulk mail regularily from you please advise and we can put your email address on the "protected" list.

Q6 Why do the individual top results pages have varying numbers of sites listed?

ANSWER: If a site only gets a minimal number of visitors via ALWAYSSAFESEARCH.COM then it will not be listed in the top results. Therefore some pages may have a maximum of 10 listed while others may have only 3 or 4.

Q7 Why do you have Australian and Canadian sites listed separately?

ANSWER: The majority of our traffic is from the U.S.A. although we have noticed that the number of Canadian visitors has been increasing steadily so we have added and welcome Canadian sites. For the Australian sites we have listed only those which are educational or deliver their products internationally as there are many items that are available only from Australia and also the exchange rate is very favourable especially for American and Canadian customers.

Q8 Why are there now going to be ads being displayed when I use the search box? There never were before.

ANSWER: The costs incurred to utilize the search box function together with the other regular costs involved to operate this site were being solely financed personally and while we would prefer NOT to have ads which we have no control over, we cannot continue to cover all costs personally. Therefore, to greatly reduce costs, we have had to allow ads when using the search box function.

Q9 Is it possible to have ads displayed when using the search box function that may not be deemed to be appropriate?

ANSWER Unfortunately yes as the actual search function is outsourced and that company receives remuneration for those ads and not us. This could only possibily happen if someone was to input something not family friendly as a search. BUT, all advertisements that will be accepted on The Top Results Pages and all other pages of this site will all be family friendly as those we do have control over them.
